What wedding planning tools are most useful?
Q. I'm a bride-to-be and I have just been exploring wedding planning websites on the web, I was just wondering if any recently married brides who used online wedding planning sites could let me know what online wedding planning tools (like checklists, inspiration boards, budget planners, seating plans...) they found most useful? Thanks!
Asked by Wedding Questions - Wed May 26 22:58:59 2010 - - 5 Answers - 2 Comments

A. Hi :) I'm not married but personally for me I think the checklist/timeline and the budget planner (theknot) are the most helpful. I don't think online seating plans are particularly helpful lol I find it much more helpful to write/draw it all out. Inspiration boards are fun :D Without a doubt, most helpful website regarding tools is the knot. I also love wednet and yourwedding101 for articles and ettiquete. Those are my top 3 :) Congrats and best wishes!! x

planning a backpacking trip across europe where do i start?
Q. this year will be my senior year of high school and i want to celebrate my graduation by backpacking across europe for the entire summer next year. a trip like this obviously takes major planning (and cash) and i'm just looking for a good place to start my planning. my head is already spinning with possibilities. i want to see as much as possible but theres so much to do.
Asked by dalek - Tue Jun 30 00:56:02 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The thing that is great about Europe is all the trains that connect from major city to major city, so i would look at that as my get to from place to place. First off, i would narrow it down to the main cities you HAVE to see. So pick a few, maybe Paris, Rome, Madrid, Brussels, Amsterdam, and then figure out how you're going to get from place to place. And while going from place to place you can see all the places inbetween them, like going from Brussels to Amsterdam, pick some places to stop off. yess, it seems very confusing, but the main point is narrow down the places you have to see, then start thinking of how to get from place to place and where you are going to stay.

Planning my honeymoon and we are leaning towards a Mediterranean cruise in August, any experience?
Q. Our original plan was to just go to Italy, which we ended up deciding may be too expensive once the planning got underway so we started looking at cruises. While researching cruises the other night, came across a few different options for a Mediterranean cruise - each starting and ending in Rome (kinda killing two birds with one stone I guess). Has anyone taken a similar cruise before and what was your experience?

A. I would recomend royal caribbean . They have a 12 night cruise on 21 august in the med on the brand new brilliance of the seas. I am 35 and have been on island escape and island star as well as freedom of the seas. Royal caribbean ships are far superior to anything else on the market. Prices for Brilliance start around the 1000 per person.

What is strategic planning and how does it work?
Q. I am wondering on what exactly strategic planning is and how it works. I heard that it is used in business, but can it be used in other areas as well? For example, can it be used in planning out ones career goals in life? Is it also valid and effective? Does anyone recommend using it when planning out career goals in life in order to prevent a career crisis?
Asked by enigma84007 - Sat May 10 20:08:25 2008 - - 2 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Strategic plans are done for usually 5 years out. They are used in business for product development and financial planning. Of course you can develop a strategic plan for a person...education and career. It's always good to have some plan regarding your career, financial planning, family planning. It doesn't guarantee not preventing a "crisis" but will assist you in preparing for events in the future (e.g. buying a house, investments, starting a family, etc.).

I am planning to move to Austin, TX, and I wonder what part of the city is best to move into? Recommendations?
Q. In a little while I'd be out of the service and planning to move to Austin, TX. I have never been there (I used to live in Dallas, TX though) and I do not have friends in that city either. It's going to be a new experience for me. I need some recommendations of good neighborhoods in the city to move into. I'm planning to rent an apartment and I have my own transportation.

A. It depends on what you're used to and what sort of lifestyle that you're looking for. I love South Austin. It's close to downtown, and has all sorts of funky and eclectic shops and restaurants. North Austin and Northwest Austin are more modern, and probably have a wider array of apartments and complexes in different price tiers. The apartments in these areas might be good for you, as many are geared toward young single students and professionals. Some activities include poolside BBQ's and parties so that you can get to know your neighbors. Check out an online apartment locationg site, or www.austinchronicle.com You can tour apartments and areas virtually, and get a sense of what it's going to cost before you ever set foot in town. … [cont.]

A. Go play some sports and just live an athletic life style. However I wish to pass some of my wisdom upon you. Do not enlist into the Marine Corps. Go to college and get a degree. After you are done with college go into the Marines as an officer. You get better pay, and the treatment is better.

Planning my garden for spring - would it be ok to move an established Lilac bush or simply plant a new one?
Q. I have a large garden with some spring bulb flowers, planning on some Glads, and would like to establish some flowering bushs - a portion of this garden gets full sun and about 1/3 is afternoon shade.
Asked by litl m - Mon Jan 28 11:16:29 2008 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You can move your established bushes in any month that has an R in it as long as the ground can be dug. Since lilacs establish their bloom buds the year before you will lose those blooms, and 3 years or longer you won't see any blooms. Just depends on how hard the transplant was to your bushes. I would say that fall is a better time than spring to move these plants based on experience, because they begin to prepare for the long rest period of winter and begin to go dormant. Spring they begin to put their energy into growth and can be shocked terribly. Hope this helps

Planning a vacation to Alaska; What are the places to visit?
Q. I am planning to fly to Alaska, and rent an RV. I would rather visit in a leisurely manner the beautiful sceneries of alaska, and attractions. instead of regimented visits done during the Cruises(I feel they are expensive). Any suggestions of what places to visit? What scenic routes to visit? and Glaciers, etc? Thank you.

A. Prior to your trip, pick up a copy of the MilePost. This is the RVer's bible for traveling the Alaskan Highway and touring Alaska. It will detail all the sites and what milemarker, on what highway everything is on. Find it at www.milepost.com. We got ours at amazon.com for half price. You could opt for last years edition since you won't be traveling the entire Alaskan Highway. Also pick up a copy of Frommers Alaska travel guide. it's worth it's weight in gold. A lot depends on where you will rent the RV. Anchorage would be my guess and that's good, although Fairbanks could be better. As soon as possible go to a Safeway store and pick up a Tour Saver coupon book. It's $99 and it will pay for it's self in Fairbanks alone. This book is full… [cont.]

A. My husband and I love taking road trips. Last year we went to the west coast and had so much fun. It is absolutely beautiful. We went to 8 states, and we certainly had a limited budget. Here are some of the tips I can offer you: 1. Plan ahead: Do research on different places you want to see and get an itinerary set up. That way you can stay on track, and not end up doing extra things that aren't planned so you don't spend more than expected. 2. Camp out: If you have the option camp instead of staying in a hotel. It is A LOT cheaper and you will be able to enjoy more quality time with your sons, not to mention really take in the beauty around you. 3. Park pass: If you plan on stopping at more than 3 national parks it is cheaper to… [cont.]

A. YES! it's true because he, and his people know that the illegal immigrants that are already here and in good standing are very important to our economy and labor market...and this is what's keeping the US from moving forward. great news! Unions agree on path for immigration reform The AFL-CIO and the Change to Win federation support the legalization of the nation's 12 million undocumented immigrants and the creation of a panel to analyze the labor market's needs. The nation's top two labor federations announced a framework Tuesday for comprehensive immigration reform, setting aside differences with the hope of pushing legislation through this year.

Any truth to planning the sex of your baby?
Q. I keep reading everywhere that you can plan having a boy or girl by the day you conceive in your ovulation cycle. I've heard if you have sex a couple days before you ovulate, you are more likely to have a girl because the "female sperm" is slower. Has anyone tried this and been successful with planning for a boy or girl? Just wondering if there is any real truth to this. Thank you!
Asked by Delia - Sat Mar 21 19:23:35 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. This book worked for my wife and me 2X; first we wanted a girl, so we had sex a couple of days before ovulation. Female-carrying sperm are supposedly slower, but they have a longer life cycle, and so they remmain active longer. Deposit the sperm before ovulation. When ovulation hit...Boom, we had a girl! Second time, we wanted a boy, had sex when she knew she was already ovulating. Male carrying sperm supposedly swim faster, but all that exertion makes them less hardy. So... Boom, we had a boy. I think that the same principle is used to separate male sperm from female sperm. The semen is spun in the centerfuge, separating the sperm by size. Boy, I think I used the word sperm waaay too much in this answer. :) Have a fun time!

Planning a co-ed baby shower and I would like some input on the decorations?
Q. I'm already avoiding pretty much all of the standard baby shower decorations. The invitations are very bright and colourful and I'm planning on sticking with those colours instead of pastels. What 2 colours do you think would go well together? The shower will be for a baby girl but the colours certainly don't need to be gender specific. What are some things I can decorate with so the guys don't feel more akward then they probably already do with attending a co-ed shower?
